New lenses in your own frames
Love your frames but need new lenses? We reglaze them, which some people call relensing or re-lensing: single vision often the same day, varifocals usually in around 48 hours. Bring your frame to 252 Park Road, Dingle. We check it is sound, advise on the right lenses, and give you a complete quote before you decide.

What we can reglaze
Single vision
Distance or reading lenses. From stock, often fitted in as little as an hour, subject to lens availability. See same day glasses.
Varifocals
Measured on the Essilor Visioffice X in your frame and fitted by Gavin. Usually around 48 hours. See varifocal reglazing.
Lens upgrades
Transitions, a driving anti-reflective coating, or thinner lenses for a strong prescription.
How it works
- Bring your frame in, or send a photo on WhatsApp first. No appointment needed, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
- Bring your prescription if it is less than two years old, or book an eye test.
- We check the frame and advise. We advise, you choose, and you get the full price before anything is ordered.
- Collect your glasses, fitted and adjusted to your face.
Common questions
Reglazing, answered
Can you put new lenses in my own frames?
Usually, yes. Bring the frame in and we will check it is sound and suitable for the lenses you need, and tell you straight away. It does not matter where you bought it.
Is relensing the same as reglazing?
Yes. Reglazing, relensing, re-lensing and “new lenses in my old frames” all mean the same job: your frame stays, the lenses are replaced. Opticians tend to say reglaze; customers often say relens. Either word gets you the same service here.
How long does reglazing take?
Single vision lenses from stock can often be fitted in as little as an hour, subject to lens availability, and usually the same day. Varifocals usually take around 48 hours, depending on the lens design.
Is reglazing cheaper than new glasses?
You pay for the lenses and fitting, not a new frame, so it usually costs less than a new pair with the same lenses. We give you a complete quote before you decide.
Do I need a new eye test first?
Not if you have a prescription less than two years old from any practice and your sight has not changed. If your last eye test was with us, we already have it. If you are not sure, book an eye test and go straight on to the new lenses.
Can I have varifocals put in my existing frame?
Often, yes, as long as the frame is deep enough for a varifocal and sound. We measure you on the Essilor Visioffice X in that frame, the same as for a new pair. See varifocal reglazing.
Can I upgrade my lenses when I reglaze?
Yes. Reglazing is a good time to add Transitions light-reactive lenses, a driving anti-reflective coating, or thinner lenses for a strong prescription.
Do I have to leave my glasses with you?
For most jobs, yes, while the new lenses are fitted. If you only have one pair, tell us and we will plan the timing with you.
