8. Advertising Measurement (Google and Meta)
We advertise on Facebook and Instagram (both run by Meta) and on Google. To see which adverts bring in real customers, and so these platforms show our adverts to people more likely to need us, we share limited information with them, as described below.
Enquiries from our Facebook or Instagram adverts
If you contacted us through one of our Facebook or Instagram adverts or forms and you go on to order glasses from us, we tell Meta that the person who responded to our advert placed an order, with the date and an estimated order value. To match the order to the advert, we send Meta's own reference for your enquiry and your email address and phone number in scrambled (hashed) form. Meta uses these only to match the order to the advert you responded to. We never send your prescription, the type of lenses or frames, your eye test results, clinical notes or appointment details.
We do this because we have a legitimate interest in measuring and improving our advertising. It applies to enquiries made through our Meta adverts from 6 October 2026 onwards. You can object at any time by calling 0151 726 0622 or emailing us, and we will stop sharing your information with Meta from that point.
Bookings and website visits
We only share your eye test bookings, and your visits to our website, if you agree to "Help us measure our adverts". You are asked once, when you open the booking calendar on our website, and not on other pages. Because an eye test is a health appointment, we never share a booking without your agreement. If you make no choice, nothing is shared, and you can still book either way.
What we share with Google: if you agree, an advertising identifier assigned to your browser or to the advert you clicked (not your name), the approximate time of a booking or purchase, and an estimated purchase value.
What we share with Meta when you agree in the booking calendar: the same booking and purchase information, plus your name, email address and phone number in scrambled (hashed) form.
Your choice is recorded with the time you made it, where you made it, and the version of the notice you saw (currently version 3), so we can show it was made before anything was shared.
The estimated purchase value is a standard figure, currently £375. It is not your actual bill and does not come from your invoice.
This is separate from, and does not affect, appointment reminders or other essential service communications.
Changing your choice: use "Cookie settings" in the site footer at any time for website and booking measurement. To object to order measurement for an advert enquiry, call or email us. Either change takes effect from that point on.
Changing your choice does not withdraw information already shared before you changed it. Google and Meta each handle removal requests for data already received, and we cannot do that on their systems for you.
If you have already booked or purchased with us and want an existing record updated, call 0151 726 0622 or email us and we will action it directly, since a website setting alone cannot reach into records already stored in our booking system.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any significant changes will be notified via email or SMS.
